Persona 4 Revival: Everything We Know About the Release

Persona 4 Revival brings back one of Japan's most beloved RPGs: I move to the sleepy small town of Inaba for a year, where a mysterious string of murders suddenly begins. Atlus is rebuilding the classic as a full remake, and SEGA is publishing it. Here I sum up everything known about the release of Persona 4 Revival.

First things first: Persona 4 Revival isn't out yet. This article isn't a review, but an overview of the official info on release date, platforms, price and content. There will only be a score once I've played the finished version myself.

When does Persona 4 Revival come out?

Persona 4 Revival launches on February 18, 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. On PC, the game is available via Steam and the Microsoft Store. It's also included in Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass at launch. The Nintendo Switch 2 version follows a bit later, on May 20, 2027.

SEGA has officially confirmed both dates: the February date in June 2026 and the Switch 2 version in September 2026. Steam lists February 17, 2027, which is due to the time difference. Here in Europe, it kicks off on February 18.

Price, editions and pre-order bonus

On the Persona 4 Revival Steam page, the Standard Edition costs €69.99. There's also a Digital Deluxe Edition and a Digital Premium Edition. Both include, among other things, the Velvet costume set as well as Persona sets from Persona 3 Reload and Persona 5 Royal, such as Orpheus, Thanatos, Arsène and Robin Hood. The Premium Edition adds costumes and music sets from both games on top.

If you pre-order, you get the “P3R & P5R” extra music set. It includes well-known tracks like “Heartful Cry” from Persona 3 Reload and “Will Power” from Persona 5 Royal, which I can then select in-game. I think it's a nice bonus for fans of the series, but it's not essential.

The story: Murder in the fog of Inaba

The plot stays true to the original. I play a student who moves from the big city to live with his uncle in Inaba. Shortly afterwards, bodies turn up, and the police speak of a serial killing. At the same time, a rumor is going around: if you look into a switched-off TV at midnight on a rainy night, you'll see someone there, the Midnight Channel.

Together with my new friends, I discover that another world lies behind the screen. Shadows wait there, the repressed sides of the people who ended up inside the TV. To save the victims and find the culprit, I have to go into that world. For me, the mix of murder mystery, small-town life and the supernatural is still what makes Persona 4 so appealing.

Combat, dungeons and school life

As is usual for the series, Persona 4 Revival is split into two halves. During the day, I go to school, work part-time jobs, meet friends and deepen bonds. These relationships make my Personas stronger. At night and on days off, I explore the dungeons in the TV world and fight Shadows in turn-based combat.

The screenshots show that Atlus is clearly following the style of Persona 5 Royal and Persona 3 Reload. Battles feature a snappy, comic-style menu, and exploiting weaknesses grants extra turns and team attacks. The remake is being developed by the in-house P-Studio, which is also responsible for the latest entries in the series.

What's new in the remake?

Persona 4 originally came out in 2008 for the PlayStation 2, later followed by the expanded Persona 4 Golden for the PS Vita, which has also been playable on PC since 2020. Persona 4 Revival isn't a simple remaster, but a full remake with new 3D graphics, new cutscenes and a modernized interface.

Atlus hasn't fully revealed how much of Golden's content will carry over or what exactly is being added. Voice acting is in English and Japanese, with Chinese voice acting set to follow via update. German text is included at launch. The USK has rated the game 12+, PEGI 16. SEGA hasn't published the PC system requirements yet; we'll add them as soon as they're known.
