Dawn of War IV release

According to Deep Silver, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV launches on December 3, 2026 for PC via Steam. It was originally planned for September 17, 2026, but the date was pushed back. With the Commander Edition, you can jump in from November 30, three days early. The game is being developed by KING Art, and Deep Silver is publishing it.

On Steam, the Standard Edition costs €59.99. Pre-orders there currently get a 10 percent discount.

Story: War on Kronus

Dawn of War IV is set on the planet Kronus, centuries after the events of Dark Crusade. The story was written by John French, a Black Library author. Across four campaigns with more than 70 missions, you make decisions that change the course of the story. Lion El’Jonson, a Primarch of the Dark Angels, also makes an appearance.

Four factions

There are four playable factions at launch: the Space Marines with the Blood Ravens and the Dark Angels, the Orks, the Necrons and, for the first time in the series, the Adeptus Mechanicus. According to the developer, each faction plays differently and has its own units and heroes.

Gameplay and modes

Dawn of War IV is classic real-time strategy with base building and resource points you have to capture and hold. The so-called Combat Director delivers synchronized finisher animations in melee. Unit Veterancy makes your troops stronger over time. With the Painter Tool, you design your army's colors yourself.

You can play the campaigns solo or in co-op. On top of that, there are skirmishes against up to five AI opponents, an online multiplayer mode with 30 maps and three game types, and the Last Stand mode for three players with five heroes. Free updates are planned for the first year, including a Crusade Mode and a mission editor.
