With ArcheAge Chronicles, XLGAMES is giving its well-known MMO brand a fresh start. Tab-targeting is out, action combat in Unreal Engine 5 is in. Early Access begins on November 4, 2026. Here's everything on the release, price, content and system requirements.

Release, Early Access and price

ArcheAge Chronicles enters Early Access on Steam on November 4, 2026 at midnight German time. Steam still lists November 3, because it unlocks on the evening before in US time zones. The price is €29.99.

According to the developer, Early Access should last around nine to twelve months. During that time the team plans to add more content and build out the game with community feedback. At first, the game is PC only.

What is ArcheAge Chronicles?

ArcheAge Chronicles is set in Erenor, the world fans know from the original ArcheAge. It's not a remake, though, but a standalone online-focused action RPG. You explore solo or in a group, fight monsters and bosses and build up your character through classes and gear.

The landscapes lean heavily on light and fog.

Three regions are playable at the start of Early Access. Settlements serve as meeting points where you run into guilds and other players.

Combat and classes

The biggest change from the original is combat. Instead of clicking on targets, you control attacks, dodge rolls and abilities directly. It feels closer to a modern action RPG than a classic MMO.

How many classes and skills will be available at launch, and how deep the endgame goes, can't be judged fairly before release.

What to watch out for

XLGAMES has been majority-owned by Kakao Games since 2020. The first ArcheAge was notorious for its monetization, so plenty of fans are wary. How fair Chronicles turns out to be on that front will only become clear after launch.

On top of that, there's no German localization at launch. Text is available in English, Korean and Chinese.

System requirements

At minimum you'll need an Intel Core i5-10400 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600, 16 GB of RAM and a GeForce RTX 2060 Super or Radeon RX 6600, plus 100 GB of SSD storage.

Recommended specs are Windows 11, a Core i7-12700 or Ryzen 7 5700X, 32 GB of RAM and an RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB or Radeon RX 7700 XT. The USK has rated the game 16+.

Our take

ArcheAge Chronicles has the potential to reboot the brand with modern combat and slick visuals. The fair price and a clear Early Access roadmap work in its favor.

The risks are big, though: no German text, steep hardware requirements and lingering memories of the original's monetization. We'll take a closer look after launch.
