The Story of Sports Interactive
Sports Interactive was founded in London in 1994 by brothers Paul and Oliver Collyer, who first made their name with the Championship Manager series. After splitting from then-publisher Eidos in 2004, the studio kept its game engine and database and launched the Football Manager brand. Today Sports Interactive is led by studio director Miles Jacobson.
Football Manager: The Series That Defined It All
Football Manager is considered one of the most detailed sports sims ever made. A global network of scouts and researchers maintains a huge database of players, coaches and clubs. Alongside the main series for PC and Mac, there are versions for consoles and mobile. The studio also developed the ice hockey sim Eastside Hockey Manager.
Sports Interactive and SEGA
Sports Interactive has been part of Japanese giant SEGAsince 2006, which also publishes its games, but the studio still operates independently. It's headquartered at the Here East campus in London's Hackney Wick, and according to the studio it employs almost 300 people.
Football Manager 27
With Football Manager 27 , the series continues on Unity following Football Manager 26. According to Sports Interactive, the focus is on a new news feed, better matchday atmosphere and reworked training. The game releases on November 10, 2026, for PC and Mac, as FM27 Console for PlayStation 5 and Xbox, and as FM27 Mobile via Netflix.
